The ageless allure of Summertime
The ageless allure of Summertime
September 2012
The shoes created by Giuseppe Zanotti as a tribute to the celebrated David Lean film convey the essence of everlasting beauty. Red, like the color of seduction, elegant and refined, they recreate the mules worn by Katharine Hepburn in the 1955 movie Summertime , showing the Italian designer’s great creative flair.

Exact reproductions of the originals, the sandals will go on show as part of the exhibition Trame di Moda – women and style at the Venice Film Festival , organized by Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Venice Film Festival. To mark the event, from 1st September 2012 to 6th January 2013 the city’s Palazzo Mocenigo will house dresses worn both on set and on the red carpet over the past 50 years.

Giuseppe Zanotti also wanted to redesign the famous shoes with a modern twist, investing them with an irresistible glamour that simply oozes chic. In their new version, the gold-trimmed red suede sandals sport killer heels, a slender ankle strap and are encrusted with ruby-red crystals. Displayed alongside the original mules for the exhibition, the new sandals will be available for pre-order from 1st September at the monolabel boutique in Venice. From October the model will also be available for purchase online at the website giuseppezanottidesign.com and shoescribe.com
